Music Technology Course

 

 Kerry School of Music boasts its own recording studio and mobile, on-site sound re-inforcement system. The studio uses ProTools recording software powered by a Mac G5. This software is the industry standard throughout the world. The studio is first and foremost a teaching studio but is also available for commercial recordings.

 Students can opt to study sound technology as their ‘instrument’ in the normal manner (40/50/60-minute weekly lessons.

 A sound-technology module is also incorporated in the School’s Diploma Programmes.

 

Course modules include: 

  • Fundamentals of sound
  • Analogue and Digital sound – the pros and cons
  • Recording techniques
  • Mixing and editing in pro-tools
  • Live sound reinforcement (set-up and operation)

 

Practical Applications: 

  • Recording work including studio set-up and engineering
  • On-site live sound set-up and engineering – concert.
  • Live show set-up and recording – music-theatre.
