Congratulations to the many Kerry School of Music students who participated so successfully in this year’s Rotary Club of Killarney Young Musician of the Year competition now in it’s eighteenth year. Special shout out to 11-year-old Dingl Pianist Ava Duffy who won the prestigious title Musician of the Year at the grand final on Saturday last, March 10th in the Mangerton Suite of the Gleneagle Hotel. Ava studies Piano with School of Music Director Aidan O’ Carroll. An just to prove that it was no fluke, Ava also won the u.12 Violin category and the u.12 Recital category. Aidan’s Voice Student, Soprano Caitriona Fitzmaurice from Tarbert in North Kerry came in third place while Spa/Fenit Violinist Clodagh Gaynor, student of Dovile Baltoniene was runner up.

Congratulations to another of Aidan’s students, Soprano Tess Dowling from Castlegregory, who won the Most Promising Singer award and to Listowel Flautist Odhran O’ Reilly, a student of Ermelinda Xhyhery, who wonf the Most Promising Wind Player award.

KSM students completely dominated the event winning all Windand String categories and most junior voice categories.
