With over 250 students, the KSM Dance Academy is the largest in Kerry and has a wonderful reputation for delivering high quality tuition to children and adults of all ages.
This is a very significant year for classical dance in Kerry. It marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the first ballet class in Kerry in 1987 under the aegis of the Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance and Kerry School of Music. Initially classes were provided in Tralee only and were taught by Sinead Murphy, a teacher provided by Dr. Moriarty. Colette Maguire Jensen, a Wexford-born professional working in England replaced Sinead in 1993 and spearheaded the development of the dance school which today provides classes in Tralee, Killarney, Castleisland, Killorglin, Dingle and Listowel. Colette was joined in 2007 by her former student Tara Dore and more recently by Dr. Trish Melton teaching Jazz and Tap. All three are accredited teachers with the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance.
Dance instruction is provided in classical ballet, jazz, modern and tap. While group or class tuition is the norm, students can also book private one-to-one or shared classes in any of these forms.
Students taking two or more of the three subjects can avail of substantial discounts as highlighted on the fees and charges page.
Please contact the Kerry School of Music office for details on specific timetables in each centre.
